Hydraulic types of pumps Types of hydraulic pumps • Gear pump • Piston pump • Vane pump • Clutch pump • Screw pump • Refuse pump What is a gear pump? A gear pump is a type of positive displacement (PD) pump. It moves a fluid by repeatedly enclosing a fixed volume using interlocking cogs or gears, transferring it mechanically using a cyclic pumping action. It delivers a smooth pulse-free flow proportional to the rotational speed of its gears. Generally, if the pump is expected to handle abrasive solids it is advisable to select a pump with a higher capacity so it can be operated at lower speeds to reduce wear. The higher speeds and lower clearances of external gear designs make them unsuitable for these applications. External gear pumps have four bearings in the pumped medium, and tight tolerances, so are less suited to handling abrasive fluids. Since output is directly proportional to rotational speed, gear pumps are com...
Mechanical types of belts What is mechanical belt..? A belt is a loop of flexible material used to link two or more rotating shafts mechanically, most often parallel . Belts may be used as a source of motion, to transmit power efficiently or to track relative movement. Types of Belts As with belt drives, belt designs have been specialized for various applications too. Each of them offers various benefits over others in specific situations. We will take a look at five of the most popular types of belts used in belt drives today. These five types are: Round belt Flat belt V belt Toothed belt Link belt High belt tension prevents heat buildup, slippage and alignment problems as there is little to no relative motion between the belt and the pulleys. On the other side, the driving pulley pushes the belt away towards the driven pulley. When power needs to be transferred, the belt is shifted from the loos...
Hydraulic System basis Valve function The valve is provided with an internal control passage to evaluate the outlet pressure (at port B). When sufficient pilot pressure is applied, the spool moves against the spring force and opens the valve, thus allowing the flow through the valve. They are designed to operate efficiently under extreme conditions and within wide-ranging temperatures. Choosing the right hydraulic valve for your application is critical to securing the performance, reliability and lifespan of your system. A pilot passage ‘x’ is provided in the valve to accept signals from the inlet to act on one side of the spool. The flow path through the valve opens when the pressure at the pilot port increases beyond the pressure setting. The main function of the counterbalance valve in a hydraulic circuit with a load-carrying actuator is to maintain the preset back pressure in the return line of the circuit, sufficient to balance the load held by ...
