Mechanical engineering Types of belts

Image
Mechanical types of belts  What is mechanical belt..?            A belt is  a loop of flexible material used to link two or more rotating shafts mechanically, most often parallel . Belts may be used as a source of motion, to transmit power efficiently or to track relative movement. Types of Belts As with belt drives, belt designs have been specialized for various applications too.  Each of them offers various benefits over others in specific situations.  We will take a look at five of the most popular types of belts used in belt drives today.  These five types are: Round belt Flat belt V belt Toothed belt Link belt High belt tension prevents heat buildup, slippage and alignment problems as there is little to no relative motion between the belt and the pulleys. On the other side, the driving pulley pushes the belt away towards the driven pulley. When power needs to be transferred,  the belt is shifted from the loose pulley to the fast pulley and when it needs to be stopped, the

Hydraulic types of pumps

Hydraulic types of pumps Types of hydraulic pumps •  Gear pump • Piston pump • Vane pump • Clutch pump • Screw pump • Refuse pump What is a gear pump? A gear pump is a type of positive displacement (PD) pump.  It moves a fluid by repeatedly enclosing a fixed volume using interlocking cogs or gears, transferring it mechanically using a cyclic pumping action.   It delivers a smooth pulse-free flow proportional to the rotational speed of its gears. Generally, if the pump is expected to handle abrasive solids it is advisable to select a pump with a higher capacity so it can be operated at lower speeds to reduce wear.  The higher speeds and lower clearances of external gear designs make them unsuitable for these applications.  External gear pumps have four bearings in the pumped medium, and tight tolerances, so are less suited to handling abrasive fluids.  Since output is directly proportional to rotational speed, gear pumps are commonly used for metering and blending operations.

A gear is a kind of machine element in which teeth are cut around cylindrical or cone shaped surfaces with equal spacing. If it is difficult to view PDF, please consult these sections. Types of Gears Spur gear Helical gear Ratchet Pawl Rack Pinion Straight bevel gear Spiral bevel gear Worm Worm wheel Internal gear Gear coupling Screw gear Involute spline shafts and bushings Miter gear There are many types of gears such as spur gears, helical gears, bevel gears, worm gears, gear rack, etc.  Gears can be classified by shape as involute, cycloidal and Trophies gears.  There are straight miter and spiral miter gears.  Even after choosing the general type, it is important to consider factors such as: dimensions (module, number of teeth, helix angle, face width, etc.), standard of precision grade (ISO, AGMA, DIN), need
